A Woman's Life

Picture
A Women's Life was the first exhibition to celebrate International Women's Day at the Alberta College of Art. This exhibition included 42 art works: installation, video, painting, needle work, textile, sculpture, prints, photography, jewellery, glass, ceramics, collaborative works submitted by artists from Calgary, Edmonton, Alberta College of Art, and Sheridan College.
The organizing committee, coordinated by Mary Lou Riordon- Sello and including Joan Caplan, Susan Harrison, Karen McLaughlin, Susanne Sarioglu, Lorrie Wager and Diana Zasadny  invited Aritha Van Herk, a Calgary writer and educator to open the exhibition, and the Maenads, an experimenta
l
feminist theatre group to perform at the opening, in the mall of the Alberta College of Art. Reaching out to other groups and art forms brought many people from different segments of the community to participate in and view A Women's Life.
